Vox Pops Music Tour

Our Year 6/7 Choir, 'Vox Pops' returned to school at the end of Week 8 after a highly successful music tour of the Fleurieu Peninsula. The group wowed audiences with their ”All the Feels” concerts - a concept show with inter-linked themes. Congratulations to all the students for their hard work in preparing this series of concerts, and Ms Elena Harrison, the director of Vox Pops, and all the staff who helped with the tour.

Senior Rock Band, Junior Rock Band, Senior Jazz Ensemble

On Sunday 24 September the Senior Jazz Ensemble, Senior Rock Band, and Junior Rock Band all performed at the Jade Monkey in the city. It was a great experience for all the students involved to perform in a regular live Adelaide music venue. Congratulations to the students. Many thanks to all family and friends who came along to support the ensembles.

Singers Soiree

A large number of vocalists took part in the now ‘annual’ singers soiree held in the Shirley Jeffries Chapel during the afternoon of Sunday 24 September. There was a great variety in the program and all the singers had the opportunity to prepare and sing as a soloist or in a duet. Well done to the singers for taking the brave step to perform, and thanks to Mrs Jane Edwards for once again organising this initiative for the solo singers.

Big Band Bonanza

On Wednesday 27 September the Senior Jazz Ensemble plus all three Big Bands played at Norwood Live, along with the Adelaide University Big Band. It was a great way to end the “Big Band” year which has been one of the best to date. Congratulations and well done to all the students involved in the concert. It was a treat to hear the Adelaide Uni Big Band again whose membership involved three Old Scholars on this occasion, Jack Degenhart (’12), Annie Isaksson ('14), and Josh Chenoweth ('14), as well as Mr Alex Taylor who got the call up to fill one of the trombone chairs.

Thanks to everyone who supported this event.

2017 Junior Play 'A Grimm Night for Hans Christian Andersen'

The 2017 Year 8 to 10 Junior Play, 'A Grimm Night for Hans Christian Andersen' by Sue Gordon, is now cast and rehearsals underway. This year’s performance is a modern take on Hans Christian Andersen and the Grimm Brother’s fairy tales where the characters speak out and challenge their authors as to the ending of their stories. The play presents the timelessness of cautionary fairy tales and highlights the question, ‘If the characters could have a voice, what would they have to say about their fate?’

Directed by Mrs Rebecca Hassam, our valued addition to the Drama Department, the play is a high-energy episodic farce, where the action moves at lightning speed, and the characters are exaggerated and ‘over the top', adding to the comedy of the piece.

The committed cast is working hard on their characters to present recognisable, entertaining personalities, while the Year 11 Production Team is working hard on all elements of production design.

A family friendly performance for all ages to enjoy, 'A Grimm Night for Hans Christian Andersen' will be performed on the MMC stage in Term 4  -  Wednesday 29 and Thursday 30 November, and Friday 1 December at 7.00 pm.
